Payless Terms and Conditions
Additional Driver
All drivers must meet our minimum age requirements, have a clean driving record and present a valid driver’s license which they have held for at least 2 years plus a credit card in his/her own name. All location policies that apply to the renter will also apply to any additional drivers.
Additional driver fee: €11.35 per day (inc. VAT) per additional driver.

After hours returns are permitted in most instances, please contact the location directly for details.
Age Requirements
Renter must have a clean driving record and present a valid driver’s license which they have held for at least 2 years plus a credit card in his/her own name. Renter must also have been eligible to hold a valid driving licence for at least the years specified in the table below.

All renters 76 years and over must provide us with proof they hold a current motor insurance policy and have been driving without incident for the last 5 years. A doctor’s letter stating the renter is in good health is also required. The renter may also be required to undergo a driving assessment with a member of Payless staff.
Collision Damage Waiver and Theft Protection / Responsibility for Vehicle Damage:
Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and Theft Protection are included in your quotation and means that for each full or partial day that the car is rented to you, and the car is operated in accordance with this agreement, we assume all loss or damage to the car except, if permitted by law, for lost, damaged or stolen keys or remote entry devices, towing or tire service unless related to an accident, and except for your amount of “responsibility”, specified on the rental document.
Your amount of "responsibility" varies by car group and is shown in the table below.

The responsibility can be reduced to zero (excluding windscreen) by taking out an additional excess waiver, per day pricing for this additional cover is shown in the table below. Your rental sales agent will be able to advise you on the cover and pricing when picking up the car. If you are paying with a Debit Card, this coverage must be taken.

One Way Rentals
All car groups may be rented one-way based on availability. One way fees are included in your quotation. Unauthorized one-way rentals will be subject to a surcharge.
Fuel Policy
The vehicle will have a full tank of fuel which must be paid for on pickup. The cost of fuel will be refunded if you return with a full tank.
Geographical Restrictions
Driving into Northern Ireland is permitted and is subject to a cross border coverage fee of €34.00. Payless cars cannot be taken off the Island of Ireland.
Unlimited Mileage
Payless does not charge for mileage in Ireland.
Grace Period
Rental is based on a 24-hour period. The customer receives a 29-minute grace period. If he/she keeps the vehicle after this time, an additional day will be charged.
Reservation Hold Policy
It is the policy of Payless to have the confirmed vehicle available during normal business hours for the calendar day of the scheduled arrival.
Local Renter Restrictions
Local renters require a verification process which may include verifying personal information such as home phone number, address and/or employment. Supporting information can be a current utility bill, recent bank statement and/or pay stub.
No Smoking
Payless has initiated an enhanced inspection process to help ensure a pleasant rental experience for all. Each vehicle will be confirmed “smoke-free” when it is provided to a customer. Upon its return, it will be inspected. If it is determined that the vehicle must be cleaned of smoke odour and residue, the renter will be assessed a fee of up to €250.
Parking / Traffic Violations
You are responsible for paying all parking and traffic violations incurred while using the vehicle. If you incur a violation during the rental our agent will process and bill you for fines associated with the violations. In addition to any violation fees, you will also be charged a service charge, payable to the third party of €30.00 per violation. These items will be billed directly to the Credit you used for the rental transaction. Charges will appear as a separate line item on your credit card or bank statement.
Payment Information
All major payment cards are accepted at the time of booking. A physical payment card in the renter’s name must be presented at pickup. Both Credit and Debit Cards are acceptable.
If using a Debit Card, you must purchase our Excess Reduction product at the counter to reduce your financial responsibility to zero in case of vehicle theft or damage (details are provided in the ‘Collision Damage Waiver and Theft Protection / Responsibility for Vehicle Damage:’ section). PIN-enabled cards will require your PIN for authorization. Specified value/pre-paid Payment Cards will not be accepted.
Prohibited Use of the Car & Voiding of Optional Services
Certain uses of the car and other things you or a driver may do, or fail to do, will violate this agreement.
A violation of this paragraph, which includes use of the car by an unauthorized driver, will automatically terminate your rental, is an exclusion to and voids all liability protection and any optional services that you have accepted, including additional liability cover, personal accident insurance, personal effects protection, roadside assistance program and collision damage waiver or partial collision damage waiver. It also makes you liable to us for all the penalties, fines, forfeitures, liens and recovery and storage costs, including all related legal expenses, fees and costs.
It is a violation of this paragraph if:
A. You use or permit the car to be used: 1) by anyone other than an authorized driver, 2) to carry passengers or property for hire; 3) to tow or push anything; 4) to be operated in a test, race or contest or on unpaved roads; 5) while the driver is under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance; 6) for conduct that could properly be charged as a felony or misdemeanor, including the transportation of a controlled substance or contraband; 7) recklessly or while overloaded
B. You or an additional driver, authorized or not: 1) fail to promptly report any damage to or loss of the car when it occurs or when you learn of it and provide us with a written accident/incident report or fail to cooperate fully with our investigation; 2) obtained the car through fraud or misrepresentation; 3) leave the car and fail to remove the keys or close and lock all doors, close all windows and the trunk and the car is stolen or vandalized; 4) intentionally or with willful disregard cause or allow damage to the car, or 5) return the car after hours and the car is damaged, stolen or vandalized.
C. Driving or operating this car while using a hand-held wireless communication device or other device that is capable of receiving or transmitting telephonic communications, electronic data, mail or text messages shall be deemed a breach of this contract.
Windscreen Cover
In the event of damage to the windscreen, our Windscreen Cover reduces the excess payable by you to zero. Your rental sales agent will be able to advise you further on the cover and pricing when picking up the car.
Roadside Safety Net
If you purchase our Roadside Safety Net (RSN) we will waive all, or a portion of, the cost of a roadside assistance service call up to the amount of €125.00 per incident.
You may purchase RSN at €6.00 per rental day.

Taxes and Fees
VAT @13.5% (sales tax) is included in your quotation.
Toll Fees
Renter is responsible for the payment of all toll fees. Renters using the M50 motorway close to Dublin Airport should be aware barrier free tolling is in place between Junction 6 (N3 Blanchardstown) and Junction 7 (N4 Lucan). For full information on paying this toll click here.
